How is law firm legal operations different from in-house legal operations?
The title shows up in two very different settings. In a corporate legal department, legal operations often centers on outside counsel spend, budgets, and technology for in-house lawyers. In a law firm, it usually means running the firm's own legal support function: staffing and coverage, workflows, onboarding, training, and the tools the support team uses every day. This job sits squarely on the law firm side, so candidates with secretarial, paralegal, or support team lead experience at a firm will find the work familiar.
