Seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist for a temporary or contract-to-hire role in the energy and infrastructure industry. The ideal candidate will provide hands-on support for multi-entity accounting operations, month-end close processes, and internal reporting in The Woodlands, Texas.

Accounting Specialist Role
As the Accounting Specialist, you will work closely with the Controller to maintain accurate financial records and oversee day-to-day accounting activities. Responsibilities include managing general ledger functions, processing vendor payables, handling customer receivables, supporting month-end close, and preparing internal financial reports.

  • Prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, and manage financial statements
  • Handle accounts payable, accounts receivable, employee expenses, and credit card reconciliations
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes and financial reporting
  • Track capital expenditures, intercompany allocations, and internal financial reports
  • Review and verify expense submissions, ensuring accurate coding and compliance
  • Maintain audit documentation and ensure adherence to internal accounting policies
  • Collaborate with the Controller on cash flow analysis, budgeting, and financial planning
  • Support process improvement initiatives and potential ERP migration projects

Accounting Specialist Background Profile
Requirements:

  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in energy, infrastructure, or project-based industries
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and full-cycle accounting
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel; experience with Expensify or similar software
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA track or certification a plus
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently
