Assistant Controller Role:
The Assistant Controller will be instrumental in supporting the Controller with managing the organization's financial operations. Responsibilities will include handling a range of accounting functions, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards
Financial Statements
Support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring the accurate preparation, review, and reporting of financial statements
Forecasting
Lead the budgeting and forecasting process for the business unit, including conducting variance analyses and delivering insightful financial reports
Audits
Coordinate audit activities by working closely with external auditors and ensuring timely and accurate submission of required documentation
SOX Control Environment
Establish and maintain a robust SOX-compliant internal control framework to uphold the integrity of financial reporting and protect company assets
ERP System Ownership
Partner with key stakeholders to define ERP system requirements, oversee implementation, deliver end-user training, and assess post-implementation performance
Profitability & Growth
Deliver strategic financial insights to business unit leadership, identifying opportunities for cost efficiencies and revenue enhancement
Key Performance Indicators
Track, analyze, and report on KPIs to assess business unit performance and highlight areas requiring improvement
Leadership
Provide mentorship and leadership to the accounting team, fostering professional growth through training and ongoing support
Assistant Controller Background Profile
Bachelors or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field
Over 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, including a minimum of 2 years within a manufacturing setting
Solid knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and internal control frameworks; prior SOX compliance experience preferred
Strong analytical abilities with a proven track record of interpreting financial data and delivering actionable insights
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experienced with data analytics tools
Skilled in budgeting, forecasting, and building financial models
Familiarity with Sage, Oracle HFM, or Epicor systems is advantageous
