Senior Manufacturing & Supplier Quality Engineer

Our client located in Dallas, Texas has an immediate need for a Senior Manufacturing & Supplier Quality Engineer. This is a direct hire onsite opportunity that does require 25-50% travel to other countries.

Role Overview

The Senior Manufacturing & Supplier Quality Engineer will serve as a key technical liaison between engineering and contract manufacturing partners in Mexico, China, and the Dallas area. This position combines hands on manufacturing engineering with supplier quality ownership and is responsible for ensuring products consistently meet quality, performance, and regulatory standards.

This role requires an engineer who is genuinely curious about how products are made and can investigate manufacturing problems at their source. The successful candidate will understand materials, plastics, injection molding, assembly processes, hydraulics, fluid dynamics, and production environments and will use that knowledge to resolve quality issues and improve manufacturing processes.

The position will initially require approximately 25% to 50% travel while establishing relationships, processes, and quality standards with contract manufacturing partners. Travel is expected to decrease over time, although ongoing domestic and international travel will remain part of the role.

Key Responsibilities

• Own quality assurance and production engineering activities across contract manufacturing partners in Mexico, China, and the Dallas area
• Develop and standardize dock to stock processes, including incoming inspection criteria, sampling plans, and acceptance standards
• Investigate manufacturing and product quality issues through root cause analysis involving materials, injection molding and mold gating, assembly processes, environmental factors, and other production variables
• Drive corrective actions with contract manufacturing partners and ensure issues are effectively resolved
• Coordinate first article inspections and support production readiness for new and revised products
• Develop and improve manufacturing documentation, work instructions, inspection requirements, and production processes
• Conduct supplier and manufacturing audits and validate production processes
• Identify opportunities to improve quality, consistency, efficiency, and manufacturability across multiple production locations
• Ensure compliance with UL and other applicable regulatory and product standards
• Partner with design engineering to provide manufacturing feedback and design for manufacturability recommendations during new product development
• Work directly with domestic and international manufacturing partners to establish consistent processes and expectations
• Serve as a highly autonomous engineering resource capable of managing priorities and resolving issues across multiple manufacturing sites

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• 6+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, supplier quality engineering, production engineering, quality engineering, or a closely related field
• Experience working directly with contract manufacturers or within multi site manufacturing environments
• Strong understanding of how physical products are manufactured, assembled, inspected, tested, and validated
• Working knowledge of plastics, materials, injection molding, and production assembly processes
• Experience investigating manufacturing failures and performing root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Experience with supplier quality, first article inspections, production readiness, and continuous improvement
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of manufacturing and quality issues
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with international and cross cultural manufacturing partners
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Familiarity with ERP and quality management systems such as NetSuite or comparable platforms
• Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with hydraulics, fluid dynamics, or water management products
• Knowledge of UL certification processes and regulatory compliance for commercial or consumer products
• Proficiency with Adobe Fusion or similar 3D CAD software
• Spanish language proficiency
• Certified Lead Auditor experience involving ISO 19011 or comparable standards
• Knowledge of internal auditing, lead auditing, quality management systems, and implementation
• ASQ CQE or comparable quality certification
• Experience with Keithley Instruments, Tektronix, or comparable electronic test equipment, including SMUs, DMMs, analyzers, or automated testing
• Experience with TestRail or a comparable test management platform
• Previous team leadership or management experience is helpful but not required
