SUMMARYResponsible for directing the accounting/financial and various administrative functions of a field organization. Functions include establishing and maintaining the organization’s accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives. Oversees financial policy compliance. Provides financial guidance to the Managing Director. Prepares financial reports and presents findings and recommendations to upper management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESOversee the day-to-day operations of the Group’s financial processes to ensure a timely and accurate financial close.
Ensure that the Group meets and or exceeds the Run Rate established by management.
Track and report on all General Liability and Workers Compensation claims and reserves. Escalate all issues in a timely manner to ensure remediation.
Review all weekly labor variance reports and ensure remediation of issues via escalation and tracking through Operations.
Ensure the accurate calculation and accrual of all liabilities including union dues, health and welfare, pension, and education funds. Oversee the HR/Payroll function as it relates to the tracking and calculation of these liabilities.
Ensure that all revenue is accurately accrued and recognized in the correct month.
Ensure that all accruals are supported by source documents.
Track and report on all bonds including bid, performance, and other types.
Complete the month-end closing process by reviewing and analyzing financial information on a Group and Job level.
Develop, analyze, and interpret accounting information at all levels within the organization in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability and performance against budget. Analyze other matters that may have a bearing on the financial soundness, accuracy, and operating effectiveness of the business.
Provide financial guidance to management and conduct training on financial / accounting topics affecting operations.
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for the organization.
Coordinate and assist in the preparation of the support details for the Group’s operating plans.
Generate all monthly and other management reports as required, including any reporting specifically required by Sarbanes Oxley.
Generate forecasts as required.
Review and reconcile A/P logs and verify A/P accrual for each District is complete.
Ensure that all checklist tasks are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
Consolidate and verify all checklists for the Group, then complete and sign the Field controller checklist monthly.
Ensure that all accounts receivables targets are met.
Track and process all capital requests for the Group.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises financial personnel such as Financial Analysts, Accountants, and Bookkeepers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work;
appraising performance;
rewarding and disciplining employees;
addressing complaints, resolving problems, and terminating employees.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEBachelor’s degree
(BA/BS) in Accounting/Finance; plus a
minimum of ten years of general accounting experience or the equivalent education and work experience.
MBA or CPA strongly preferred. Experience must include month-end closing processing, journal entry review, and P&L review and analysis. Thorough proficiency working with common business software, such as Excel, Access and Word. Experience working with online financial systems, such as
JD Edwards, required.
