Our Dallas, TX Client is seeking an HR Manager/Compensation Analyst.

Responsibilities

The HR Manager/Comp Analyst function in the Human Resources department will work specifically in these areas:
1) HR Generalist, with a heavy emphasis on analytics
2) Compensation and Benefits Support
3) Payroll. Given client’s structure and team makeup, the HR Manager will be part of a 3 person team, but will be ultimately responsible for their function within the following dedicated job responsibilities:
- Serves as an HR Generalist for various functions within the company
- Performs varying levels of financial analysis, reporting and special projects as assigned
- Develops, maintains, and administers company compensation & bonus spreadsheets for compensation cycle; responsible for maintaining company headcount report
- Support Health & Welfare by assisting with annual enrollments, enrolling new hires into benefits and terminating benefits for COBRA Administration; resolve minor benefit enrollment issues; and assist with deferred compensation administration
- Perform semi-monthly domestic payroll processing for approximately 200+ full-time employees and oversee monthly payroll processing for 10+ UK based employees; compile, prepare and analyze monthly payroll account reconciliation to the General Ledger; prepare and validate payroll accruals
- Lead efforts to install a new HR database
- Other Human Resources related activities as needed

Qualifications
- Must have 5+ years of strong analytical abilities in dealing with financial analysis
- Ability to use data and apply critical/strategic thinking to solve problems and craft executive summaries
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance required; Top Tier Program preferred
- Ideally, 2 + years of experience in payroll administration is required. Knowledge of federal, multi-state withholdings, state unemployment, localities
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Candidates must be mature, thoughtful and articulate and have the confidence to interact one-on-one with management teams and/or intermediaries
- Must exhibit high degree of discretion as relates to safeguarding confidential information
- Candidates need to be able to thrive in an independent, entrepreneurial, relatively unstructured environment
- Excellent organizational, problem solving and interpersonal skills; must be detailed oriented
- Located in Dallas with no travel required

How to Remain Competitive in a Competitive Market

With unemployment on the decline, more and more employers are taking the route of hiring candidates on a direct hire basis. But, there's always a catch. Employers are really screening candidates to find the absolute best quality available on the market place. Here, we will discuss a few ways to overcome objections and land your dream job, even if your resume isn't what you would normally refer to as "perfect". Let's talk about ways that you can make yourself more marketable, no matter what the job market looks like.

You don't have a resume:
A resume is the key tool to identifying your dream job. It is absolutely amazing too see how many resumes fail to sell the candidate and overlook key factors that could have otherwise gained great employment for said candidate. Your resume should have: all contact information, education, software and technical skills, job history and on-the-job accomplishments. Dates are important, so do not feel it is correct to overlook your tenure with your past employers. A great objective statement too will help potential employers see how you fit in with their organization. Spelling, grammar, punction, and content is all relevant, so please pay careful attention to what your resume's message is. If you need help, state workforce commissions, head hunters, and career centers are great resources that can help you to put your resume together. Also, you can find great example resumes on Monster, Careerbuilder, or similar websites. All of these resources can offer you a great springboard for putting together the most important tool that will assist you in finding your next great step in your career.


Employment Gaps:
In the case of employment gaps on your resume, you absolutely must be able to explain why you were out of the workplace for any duration of time. If you performed temporary or contract work in between full-time positions, you must state this in your resume. First, some contract opportunities could provide you with some great technological skills or organizational skills that other potential employers could find great interest in exploring. Also, it shows that you remained active during difficult times in the job market. It keeps you sharp and explains where you were. If you were out of the market for a particular reason, it would be smart to indicate why and what you did to fill in that period of time.

You have "image" issues:
The first impression you make can either make you or break you. It would be a complete shame if your clothes caused you to lose out on an amazing opportunity. Always dress up for interviews. Also, it has been documented that those individuals who dress as though they hold higher levels in the organization tend to receive promotions and job enlargement/enrichment that ultimately raise them into improved positions. Always make sure that your clothes say you want the job and want the promotion. Dress professionally everyday. Crisp shirts, dress pants, etc. - this is the way to go.

Your credit is not perfect:
For positions in the Finance industry, to earn a new position, companies will often do a credit check to ensure that you are responsible enough to handle massive accounts without any fear. If your own accounts are not quite in order, we suggest that you take whatever steps you need to in order to put you in better standing. Check your credit report on a yearly basis. Do not open frivolous credit cards. Pay down your debts. It would be a true shame if your credit prevented you from earning more money through your career.

Your references are questionable:
It is amazing to see how many people list references to call on who have no clue that the candidate is looking and they possibly have not talked in a half decade or so. When you list a reference, make sure that they will truly speak on your behalf that can actually help you score your dream job. First, ask if they would mind giving you a hand in your career search. If they agree to speak for you, please be sure to send you a thank you to these key individuals. They really do hold your future in their hands. Show your appreciation and keep them in the loop as to positions you are applying for and where the process lies. It will help your references and you!

You have a less than stable work history:
This is not something that will be easily overcome immediately, but it is something you can work on. By taking a job that you have no intent to stay with for more than a year, you are doing far more damage that you might be led to believe. In order to overcome this common objection, accept your position and stay with it for at least 18 months if at all possible. If each job you hold continues to increase in tenure, you will slowly but surely avoid objections that indicate that you might be a "job hopper."

Your are too expensive:
When a potential employer asks a candidate about their annual salary requirement, candidates that shoot for too much money often will shoot themselves in the foot. When interviewing it would be wise to study up on Salary Wizard or a similar tool that examines education, job duties, experience, etc. to determine what the median going salary is for your given location. Being in line with your competition (other job candidates) will keep more doors open. Of course we all want to make more money, but you must remain competitive. In the case where you need to earn X number of dollars, in order to build your career, you may have to consider a supplemental job for evenings or weekends. Don't let your money demands stop you!

Position Summary:

Our Irving, TX client is seeking a Payroll Technician responsible for weekly and semi-monthly payroll for 800+ employees. This independent self-starter needs excellent multi-tasking skills to work within this fast-paced environment. This position reports to the Payroll Supervisor.

Processes an in-house weekly (hourly) and semi-monthly (sales) payroll for 800+ associates
Inputs hours and balances weekly payrolls

Completes mortgage verifications
Requests and reconciles union payments, monthly

RequirementsRequirements:
Minimum 1 year Oracle 11i HRMS experience (within the last 2 years)
Minimum 2 years payroll experience (at least 6 months hourly processing for 500+ associates)
Multi-state experience (TX, PA, CA, NJ, and IL)
Experience processing/reconciling garnishments and completing interrogatories
Excellent customer service skills

Essential Job Functions:


1. Review sales and purchase related documents and contracts with emphasis on analyzing terms and conditions and contract formation, insurance requirements, indemnification provisions and contractual allocation of risk.
2. Resolve conflicts regarding terms and conditions, regulations, specifications, etc., prior to order acceptance and entering into agreement. Provide guidance to others as necessary to resolve conflicts.
3. Negotiate contracts as requested by sales force, both independently and as part of a team.
4. Develop and maintain controlled policies and procedures related to contracts.
5. Ensure compliance with legal and government regulations.
6. Interface with U.S. and international sales management, field sales personnel, and department staff to disseminate information.
7. Maintain understanding of general business practices.
- Acquire and maintain knowledge of company's current contract guidelines.
- Acquire and maintain knowledge of company products.
- Acquire and maintain knowledge of government, industry and import/export regulations.
- Generate reports and perform analysis/audits for Management.
- Participate in continuous improvement programs.
8. Participate in cross-divisional teams as appropriate.
9. Prepare and perform training of personnel on contract terms or other topics as requested or necessary.
10. Interface with Risk Management and insurers to ensure compliance with insurance policies and request insurance certificates.
11. Work with General Counsel to avoid and manage litigation.
12. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications:
Requires good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written), and the ability to work under pressure in a conscientious and organized manner. Demonstrated use of work processing and spreadsheet software. Must have strong analytical skills, problem solving ability, and ability to influence others. Attention to detail is necessary. Requires knowledge of government and industry regulations. Oil and gas industry experience desireable. Four years of directly related experience. Four-year college degree in Business or Law.

* Positive, self-confident, and professional disposition and pleasant, friendly, out-going personality.
