Primary duties and responsibilities:
Perform a variety of advanced technical work in the installation, de-installation, upgrade and maintenance of computer software and business applications; installation, de-installation, maintenance, repair of computer and peripheral equipment, in a highly customer-oriented financial services organization, where the exercise of excellent customer service, teamwork and relations is paramount.
Under the direction of the Manager of Technical Support
Perform the IT Help Desk and User Support day-to-day operations within Windows XP/W2K/W2K3 Operating Systems environment with 500+ nodes
Provide software and applications support, involving troubleshooting the common problems
Respond to in-house and remote user calls and determining classifications and urgencies of those calls
Promptly answer the Help Desk line - document each call taken and resolve the issue within a short time and route the call to the appropriate IT staff
Perform the installation and maintenance of computers/printers and other hardware within the organization
Monitor, maintain and carefully document division inventories
Receive, examine, and process requisitions for various Information Technology supplies and materials
Initiate purchase orders according to established guidelines
Research cost and best source data - contact vendors and suppliers regarding prices, availability, and terms
Arrange and expedite purchases, process required documentation, and obtain signatures or authorization, contact vendors regarding shipping delays
Analyze and report statistics of Help Desk activities, analyze/evaluate incident reports and make recommendations to reduce incident rate
Train users regularly on software and hardware
Assist in evaluating technology resource needs.
Qualifications
Successful candidate must have 5+ years verifiable continuous experience within a professional IT department, preferably financial services.
Possess profound knowledge of: Windows XP/NT/W2K/WXP/W2K3 Operating Systems and Microsoft Networks; Terminal Server 2003; BlackBerry/RIM; computer hardware; LAN and WAN networks; telephony; computer hardware and software installation, maintenance and repair;
Operation of complex computer and other technical equipment and peripherals
Understand technical aspects of business operations, policies, and objectives and the record-keeping procedures and techniques.
Must be able to provide courteous and efficient Level I and Level II telephone support to end-users, utilizing technical expertise and good communication skills
Use judgment in determining the most appropriate methods and procedures to complete service requests from end-users
Provide technical expertise and assistance to end-users and team members
Operate, troubleshoot, adjust and repair computer equipment and peripherals
Write clear and concise user documentation
Evaluate systems and procedures and develop cost-saving alternatives
Evaluate computer hardware and software and make appropriate recommendations for repair or replacement of equipment
Lift and move computer and other equipment up to 60 pounds
Communicate effectively - both verbally and in writing
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
Analyze situations accurately and adopt an appropriate course of action
Plan and organize work accordingly
Meet schedules and time lines
Must be a team player
Must be ready to travel occasionally to the outline offices (Chicago, Dallas, New York, Spokane et al).
