To develop a program of research through designing specific projects for submission to funding agencies, implementing research and demonstration projects in the investigator's area of specialization, preparing papers reporting research results for presentation to scientific/professional organizations, translating research into practice and for publication in the scientific/professional literature, and participating in the overall development of the CHR's research agenda
Required Skills/Experience
Major responsibilities:
1) 50% - Design, develop, obtain funding for, and lead well-defined research, demonstration, and evaluation projects in the investigators area of particular expertise to advance knowledge that will improve health and health care delivery
2) 20%- Develop an ongoing program of research through coordinating a series of research proposals and projects into a logical investigation of a particular research question, topic or area
3) 10% - Communicate research results to other scientists, clinicians, professional groups, the media and the community through presentations and publications in scientific and professional journals, books; and public presentations
4) 5%- Work with partners in the health care system to improve the health of company and non-company members. This includes providing technical consulting and professional service to company, serving on various company committees and task forces, and soliciting clinical input into research, where appropriate.
5) 5% - Promote a positive, science-focused work culture by assisting in the development of Center policy, providing technical services and consultation, and by helping to define the CHRs future research agenda, and by maintaining security and confidentiality of research and medical data.
6) 5% - Participate in education by helping to train undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral students pursuing health and health services research careers.
7) 5% - Provide services to the scientific and professional community through membership on scientific peer review groups and national boards; and consult with local, state, and national voluntary and governmental agencies.Consistently supports compliance and the Principles of Responsibility ( Company's Code of Conduct) by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licenser requirements (if applicable), and company's policies and procedures.Your access to protected health information (PHI) will be limited to the minimum necessary required to effectively perform your job.

Job Competencies1) Computer Programming Language(s) e.g. SAS

Minimum Experience Requirements1) Doctoral Degree (e.g. Ph.D., M.D., or Dr.P.H.) in one of the social sciences, medicine, or health care disciplines.
2) Thorough knowledge of quantitative methods (from mathematics and statistics) for dealing with methodological and analytic problems in the investigators substantive area of expertise (e.g. epidemiology, sociology, economics)
3) Working knowledge of health care organization, policy, practice, and management (to facilitate application of research to medical and health care phenomena); and
4) Working knowledge of a standard of a standard statistical software library (e.g., SAS or SPSS) and design of relational databases
5) Research methods and theory in health-research related discipline
6) Substantive knowledge in health-related discipline
Required License, Registration, Certificate, or Professional Affiliation
*Investigators from health care fields typically hold membership in their respective professional/scientific associations, (e.g. M.D., R.N.)
Skills and Abilities1) Ability to write and communicate effectively to scientific/technical/lay/clinical audiences; and,
2) Ability to work in a computerized work environment, including word processing and data processing.
3) Data analysis and interpretation skills
4) Demonstrated leadership ability as evidenced by key leadership role on complex research projects including supervision of research staff.
Experience1) Some experience (e.g. 2-3 years) as a co-investigator or principal investigator of research projects
2) Demonstrated ability to author ad co-author publications in national, peer-reviewed scientific journals; and,
3) Experience in organizing and transmitting the knowledge of their disciplines, such as through teaching at the college or university level as an assistant or associate professor; and
4) Experience presenting research findings at national meetings.
Preferred Education and Expertise1) Comprehensive
knowledge of quantitative methods (from mathematics and statistics) for dealing with methodological and analytical problems in the investigators substantive area of expertise (e.g., epidemiology, sociology, economics);
2) Thorough knowledge of health care health care organizations, policy, practice, and management (to facilitate application of research to medical and health care phenomena); and,
3) Thorough knowledge of a standard statistical software library (e.g. SAS, SPSS) and design of relational databases
Skills/Abilities (include Equipment Operation)1) Outstanding ability to write and communicate effectively to scientific/technical audiences, as well as clinical and lay audiences
2) Specialized skills in the area of a theoretical disciple; and
3) Computer programming language (s)
4) Partnership skills, including communications and negotiations.
Experience1) Some experience (e.g.
3 to 5 years) pertaining to health-related research, theory, and policy; and
